Divorce isn't such a tragedy. A tragedy's staying in an unhappy marriage, teaching your children the wrong things about love. Nobody ever died of divorce.

Question

Thank you for your email. I need to know if my wife has any right to divorce me in the UK having been deported for using a dead woman's passport. I know she can not return to the UK, but can she still direct UK lawyers to act on her behalf?

It would be pointless to begin Russian proceeding when she has already started in the UK. I have been delayed because I do not have an address for her. She is now aware of what I want to which she said she wants to be divorced in the UK (for obvious reasons).

How eligible is she to get a divorce in a country that deported her for fraud?

Answer

I believe she has rights to divorce you in UK because you are UK resident.

However, as far as I know, divorce in UK is long, expensively, and demands observance of certain conditions (for example, 5 years of separate). I know the Russian Family Law (not UK), and I can help you in Russia.
